Truebeck Construction, an industry-leading commercial general contractor, announces the completion of the San Mateo Science Center Campus Renovation for Longfellow Real Estate Partners.

Located near the intersection of highways 92 and 101, the project spans a 429,000sf site in San Mateo. This ambitious endeavor involved the renovation and conversion of two existing seven-story office buildings at 901 and 951 Mariners Island Boulevard into combined lab and office spaces, with each building targeting a 50/50 ratio of lab and office use. Together, the buildings now encompass 262,000sf of Class A facilities, designed to support life science and biotech firms on the Peninsula. The project began in March 2023 and was completed end of July 2024.

The project included a comprehensive core and shell conversion and upgrading amenities such as a new Café, fitness center, as well as collaborative lounge and conference spaces to support future tenants. The scope also covered demolition, sitework, and the construction of two central utility plants, providing HVAC and electrical utilities for essential lab operations. Onsite parking is equipped with electric vehicle charging stations. The two mid-rise buildings offer stunning views and a prime, accessible location, with landscaped areas, walking trails, and outdoor spaces designed to foster community and collaboration.

Brandon Stinespring, Project Executive at Longfellow Real Estate Partners stated, “We are thrilled with the outcome of this project and collaboration with Truebeck. The new San Mateo Science Center Campus is a meaningful development and enhancement to the community that will offer world-class space to pioneering research and development tenants.”

Truebeck collaborated with HOK & KSH on Architecture, Forge Architecture for interior amenity spaces, HOK on Landscape, Western Allied Mechanical and Decker Electrical on design-build MEP Engineering, and BKF on Civil Engineering for this landmark project.
