Uber Mission Bay Headquarters

South San Francisco, CA

Designed as a vertical microcity, this ground-up global headquarters pays homage to Uber’s vision of a futuristic city—a seamlessly connected, tech-forward, and eco-friendly environment. These buildings are not only easily navigable but also energy-efficient, featuring integrated green spaces that provide a refreshing escape from urban density for all users and visitors.

Located in the thriving Mission Bay neighborhood, the campus consists of two buildings—one 12 stories and the other seven stories—connected by two sky bridges and constructed using steel and concrete and delivered using design-assist MEP and façade systems. The exterior façades feature unique, one-of-a-kind motorized systems comprised of glass, metal, and wood assemblies, which include 180 10’x8’ operable window sections and 40 operable skylights designed for automatic control of natural ventilation and access to fresh air. The project includes a green roof with an urban farm component and extensive courtyard landscaping.

The complete 415,000sf interior build-outs for the campus—which consists of diverse, multi-functional destination “neighborhoods” designed to accommodate individual needs, preference, and work styles—includes 2,000+ work stations, executive spaces, collaboration zones, assembly spaces, communal areas, full kitchens and cafeterias, child care facility with exterior play yard, and extensive and sophisticated A/V throughout.
