In April, the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors approved the award of the San Mateo County Medical Center project to Truebeck Construction. With the original medical facilities being built in the 1950’s, there was a need for a new medical center to keep up with the ever-changing healthcare needs of patients in the community. Truebeck Construction is providing preconstruction and construction services to the County, and working with the architect Taylor Design.

The Health System Campus project encompasses a full city block and includes 200,000sf of sitework and 289,000sf of construction comprised of multiple buildings, including the “1954 Building” (Administration Building), Nursing Wing, Diagnostic and Treatment Center, Clinics, Central Plant, North Addition, and Health Services Building.

The project scope consists of:

  • Renovation of approximately 24,000 SF of hospital space
  • Demolition of the 1954 era Building and the Health Services Building
  • Construction of a new approximately 70,000 SF Administrative Office Building
  • A variety of make ready/site improvements/phased scopes

Construction will be complete in 2021.
