Truebeck is thrilled to announce the County of San Mateo Office Building 3 (COB3) has won the 2024 Silicon Valley Business Journal Structures Award for Best Public/Civic Project

The new iconic County Office Building 3 is the first Net Zero Energy, LEED Platinum, mass timber civic building in the nation. The 208,000sf, five-story structure consists of a mass timber and glulam frame and a CLT deck structure. The all-electric building incorporates two public plazas, flexible office space, a gym, café, multi-purpose rooms, and board chambers for the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors. The interior showcases extensive exposed wood, while the facade is clad in high-performing copper anodized aluminum panels and large glass segments, allowing daylight to flood the building. The project was conceived as a space where the public can congregate and interact with government officials in an open and transparent way.

Awarded projects will be presented at a ceremony on September 26 at the San Jose Marriott. Profiles about the honorees will run online that evening and in the SVBJ weekly print edition on September 27. You can see the full list of Silicon Valley Structures Award honorees here.
