San Francisco, CA
Symbolizing San Francisco’s unique synergy of history and high tech, Market Square comprises two buildings and spans an entire block in the city’s Mid-Market area. The renovations transform two former retail warehouses into a thriving urban mixed-use campus and Class-A creative office space. Deemed an “urban game changer” by Architectural Record, this project is now home to Twitter’s headquarters and includes over 70,000sf of retail space. Because of the location and historic nature of the Market Square block, special attention was required for the coordination of phasing, scheduling, and site logistics to ensure continuity of work and that there was no disruption to the adjacent businesses. This, in addition to the project’s location on a tight, congested, downtown site, were challenges the project team conquered in order to deliver this state-of-the-art facility. The project achieved LEED Gold certification and 1TENth was awarded the 2015 ENR Best Project.
